Apache is a web server, most commonly found on Linux servers. Since April 1996 Apache has been the most used web server. As of April 2009, Apache served 49% of all active web servers.[1]

Apache is most commonly found as part of a LAMP server (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP).
