PDF (Portable Document Format) is a document format created by Adobe.

Circumvent PDF "security" Edit

PDF documents can be set to disallow editing, printing and copying. But that's all it is. A setting. You can still do all of those things with PDF viewers/editors that don't respect that setting. This can be done in Ubuntu's default PDF viewer Evince and in Sumatra PDF version 0.5 or under.

Viewers Edit

  • Sumatra PDF - Open source PDF viewer for Windows (smaller, faster and open source) - the 0.5 version can print PDFs that have disallowed printing

Editors/printers Edit

  • PDFCreator - Open source printer driver for windows, which saves to PDF (version 0.9.5 with basic Vista support is out)
  • PDF Editor - Open source PDF editor for Linux
